Baradwaj Rangan is a film critic and Senior Deputy Editor at The Hindu. He won the National Award (Swarna Kamal) for Best Film Critic in 2005. His writings on cinema, music, art, books, travel and humour have been published in various magazines like Open, Tehelka, Biblio, Outlook and the Caravan. He has co-written the screenplay for the Tamil rom-com, Kadhal 2 Kalyanam. He teaches a course on cinema at the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai. Although I am only 1/3 of the way through this book, I have read enough to identify that this book is incredibly poorly written and edited. I have read many "All-in-One" books, and none have shown the lack of diligence in writing and editing that this book has. In the first few chapters alone, there have been numerous grammatical or functional errors. Though I believe the content of the book is largely sound, the quality of the writing and editing make it impossible to rate this book above 3 stars. When reading through dense material, the last thing one wants to do is stop to re-read something because it made no sense as written. I hope a revision of this book fixes these issues, because they really detract from what is otherwise very helpful material.

This book contains useful information but appears to have been written and edited in a rather slapdash manner. There are numerous grammatical and syntactical issues. I have not completed the last chapter but found a glaring error:Mr. Carter, in one of the practice questions, asks what the correct order is for the four components of a risk management process. He insists that the correct answer is "framing, monitoring, assessing, and responding," even though that is not the order he has presented them in the book itself. Upon consulting the NIST SP 800-39, it reads: "The black arrows [from the diagram reprinted on page 236] represent the primary flows within the risk management process with risk framing informing all the sequential step-by-step set of activities moving from risk assessment to risk response to risk monitoring," which actually does match the order in which he presented the activities in the book.This sort of carelessness is beneath the quality we have come to expect from an "All-In-One" book. I, too, hope that a revised edition is forthcoming to take care of these issues - not to mention an electronically-issued errata page on their web site.

I bought this book to augment the training that I was getting through the official ISC2 on-demand CCSP training course. My thought was with two sources of information I couldn't go wrong. After consisently scoring well on both the tests that come along with the book, as well as the assessment tests given by ISC2 I thought I was well prepared to sit the test this morning. I was sadly mistaken. Though I almost pulled out a passing grade I felt that both this material along with ISC2's did not adequately prepare me for the test. That's not to say that I didn't learn something is the process, but I did not meet my goals which was to strengthen my knowledge while getting an important certification. I'm now somewhat confused as how to best prepare for the retake with the confidence that I'm not going to blow another $549 for the test.

An excellent resource for this tough and challenging certification. It has most of the information on the required domains, however, just like all (ISC)2 exams and certification, one book will not be enough. Although this book comes close as a fully authoritative resource.

This is my second study guide for this exam, both don't come close to helping you pass the exam. This one is just better than the "Official Study Guide. I studied the Shon Harris CISSP study guide and passed the exam in two attempts. That exam is significantly more challenging than the CCSP exam.

Just passed the exam, and found this book covers about 80% of the content. Anyway, it is a good book, though not really All-in-one.

The abbreviated materials given in class. Definitely easier to study as an audiobook. Makes committing to a chapter a day so doable.

Good content and you can tell the author is writing a lot based on experience. Challenge however is that no doubt the publishers wanted to achieve a word limit, so sometimes the content is redundant or repeated. Not the authors fault, perhaps more a fault of the publisher.

This little book is an excellent introductory survey of informal fallacies. And it is more.Prof. Vleet also explains the basics of formal logic. He includes good examples of each term and concept. He provides exercises to challenge the reader to then use what is learned. And he provides a good glossary of terms at the end.The greatest strengths of this book are the author's clarity of definitions and expression, his focus upon essentials, and his brevity.The best introduction to informal fallacies and formal logic that I've seen. Highly recommend.

A friend of mine (Attorney/Philosopher/Writer) recommended this book for me because I wanted to sharpen my persuasion skills. I was blown away by this book. The explanations of each fallacy is concise without getting bogged down or dragging on. The information is easy to absorb and very clear. If you are on the fence about this book, I highly recommend it.

I really love this book because it exposes to me the flaws in arguments that people always use. It opens up my mind and make me realize that I should not blindly accept all the arguments because most of the ideologies that I have been accepting since I was young always have flaws.

Philandro Castille did everything that the NRA and other gun rights organizations say a person should do when approached by a police officer. Yet, the officer still shot him dead. The NRA remained silent and nothing to condemn his unnecessary death. Philandro Castille is black and their failure to express a uniform message for gun rights gives an impression that they racially favor one group over another.

Gives me a common language with which to explain to my students what is wrong with their writing and thinking. Contains the most common errors explained in a way that students can understand. Helps me in my own thinking and expression too, of course.
